[Gdc-list] Map Curators' Group Workshop 2011 (England) - Call for Papers

Dear all

The Map Curators’ Group (MCG) of the British Cartographic Society will 
hold its Annual Workshop in York, England, on Wednesday 7th (talks) and 
Thursday 8th (visits) September 2011.

The theme will be */“How to do more with less: promoting and running a 
map collection in a time of austerity”/*.

How is your map collection succeeding with less money and fewer staff? 
Come and share your positive experiences with your colleagues!

The organisers are calling for proposals for presentations to be given 
at the Workshop. We are looking for talks about map collections.

    * using volunteers,
    * using free software to enhance their user experience or improve
      efficiency,
    * collaborating with other departments in their institutions,
    * undertaking co-operative ventures with other institutions in order
      to achieve results with reduced resources,

or any other topic relevant to the subject.


Those people making presentations at the Workshop will be given free 
registration to the event and one night’s accommodation in York if 
required. Generally, presentations are made using PowerPoint, and should 
last approximately 30 minutes. Talks will take place on *Wednesday 7^th 
September.*

Please contact the MCG Convener, Ann Sutherland, or other organiser 
(listed below) with your proposal for consideration, by *Monday 28^th 
March 2011*.
